Part-time Seasonal Employment

Retail jobs are often those that are the most flexible and the most available to my two young adults with autism. After a year working in a big box store, my daughter with autism found that she could not tolerate the stress of Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or holiday sales. Another big box store in the area offers part-time seasonal work for back to school. It's been great for her. She worked the summer and early fall, and enjoyed her experiences and co-workers, but was able to conclude her work before Thanksgiving without burning any bridges. It also works for her because her college schedule demands increase in Nov. and Dec. She may be able to apply again in the spring. She feels much better knowing her employer isn't angry at her for leaving and knowing she doesn't have to face the "horrors" of Black Friday.
